A HUNTER’S DREAM

MKT Ranch is just one example of a site developed by MKT Properties. We have the experience and expertise to turn your investments into your dream projects. We are located in Gonzales County, Texas and serve Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.

Habitat, Range and Topography:

The ranch’s native rangelands consist of heavily wooded creek bottoms traveling from the northeast corner to the southwest corner of the ranch with several areas damned to create scenic ponds stocked with largemouth bass and catfish. The creek bottoms consist of mainly large live oak and cedar elm that act as a sanctuary for the ranch’s wildlife. On each side of the main creek bottom, in the high country, is a mix of transitional brush typical of central and south Texas as well as large stands of post oak. The ranch’s overall topography has a nice gentle roll with elevations ranging from 320 to 370. So it’s easy to walk and hunt on foot.

Over the years, habitat management has been performed in several beneficial ways. Some of these management practices include clearing large fields for food plots, clearing brush strips with irrigation on specific portions (currently planted with oats and dry grass), adding wildlife watering holes, as well as a wetland typically planted with milo for high quality waterfowl hunting.

Wildlife and Hunting:

Red Stag (Red Deer) is what we are known for, we have the biggest, most beautiful Red Stag you can find in Texas. The only way to see this species as big and beautiful is to be in New Zealand, Scotland or Argentina.

Our Axis deer population is beautiful and impressive as is our collection of Blackbuck, Scimitar Oryx, Sitka, Texas Dahle Sheep, and Audad.

Rio Grande turkey are abundant along the heavily wooded creek bottoms and thrive with the various management practices that have been practiced. To cater to all species, all 6 blind and feeder locations are equipped with an Atascosa blind, free choice protein feeder, stand and fill corn feeder, and a turkey feeder.

Conveniently located in the fly way, the ranch is also home to fantastic waterfowl hunting.

The ranch has been groomed to benefit all of the wildlife that call the MKT Ranch home. However, the white-tailed deer in particular have been managed under the Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP III) which offers the opportunity to work with a TPWD biologists to customize harvest plans and extend the hunting season. The previous ranch owner has worked with a biologist for over a decade now managing the white-tailed deer herd.

Water:

The ranch is rich in surface water. Of the 10 ponds on the ranch, 3 of the larger ponds are stocked with largemouth bass. The other 7 ponds serve as wildlife watering holes and have been strategically placed around the property. In addition to the wildlife watering holes is a wetland geared for waterfowl hunting that has proven itself bountiful in past seasons.
